PE - The Differences
Thursday, January 31, 2008
I just realised that there are actually drastic differences in the PE programmes of RI and RJC.
RJC is based alot more on fitness, with the first few weeks of PE being based on almost entirely running; whereas in RI, we had modules for a particular sport in a particular term.
I heard good news that the modules in RJC are actually fun when they come in the future, so I'm hoping that the modules come sooner.
For now, PE periods are met with dread and cries of "OH SHIT ITS PE NOW!!11!eleven!" because of the NAPFA trials and running sessions. In RI, it was more like "YES ITS PE!!!" when the bell rings and happily rushing off from the boring and monotonous lessons. In other words, it was a lesson the people actually
looked forward to, instead of a lesson which makes us all walk like old men later (especially when walking up/down
stairs).
Speaking of NAPFA, today we did 3 out of the 6 stations, which were said to be the "killer" stations:
1)
2.4 km walk/runI'm happy to announce that I have improved by a shitload thanks to Vincent's tactics and some personal determination to really chiong like a mad dog. Even when I was indeed chionging like a mad dog according to my personal standards, I could still hear Nic Yun who was pacing me from behind muttering a "Wa shit damn slow." He decided to overtake me in the 2nd lap :(
But of course I'm still very happy with my improvement :) 11.13 now! Yay!
2)
ChinupsJust do 4 standard chinups and then drop. Nothing special here.
3)
Standing Broad JumpDeproved by 12 cm in this station, probably because of 2.4 km run, and probably because I forgot to apply some techniques like aiming far. Now it's at 229 cm which unfortunately missed the "C" grade by 1 cm. This is unacceptable, so I jumped again unofficially and hit 238 cm. Yay!
Of course the bottomline is that the modules better come quick so that the mood and attitude towards PE will change to "YAY ITS PE!!!" once again.

Fate

I have a fate with something.
This "something" is nothing related to love for a person, contrary to how the word "fate" is usually used.
This "something" is related to my love for exposed hot objects, which I somehow find irresistable to touch.
This "fate" that I have... is a fate with blisters.
A new blister popped out, this time on my right index finger, because I touched the exposed hot plate meant for the heating up of chemical solutions during my chemistry practical this week. Strangely enough, it looked so harmless and meek before I touched it, to the point of me thinking that it was at first a
weighing scale.
Only after touching the
weighing scale did I bother to study the switches and the knobs of the device, and only after repeatedly trying to cool down my finger with water did I realise that:
1) This device is actually a hot plate
2) It was turned on and sizzling at the temperature of 200 degrees Celsius
Oh well it's still a lesson learnt at the end of the day:
Don't touch anything before having a good look at it and assuring that it's safe to touch.

Blister(s) :(

I got 4 searing blisters on my feet because I played soccer on the tarmac barefoot while under the nice hot afternoon sun :(
Now cannot walk properly... so sad :(
If I get robbed I cannot chase the robber
If got car going to crash towards me, cannot run away
If I want to go for PE, cannot run properly
Oh noes :(

T'sparanza 2008

THANK YOU FOR SHOPPING AT 7-ELEVEN! THANK YOU *CLAPCLAPCLAP* THANK YOU *CLAPCLAPCLAP* THANK YOU *CLAPCLAPCLAP* PLEASE COME AGAIN!
Those days are sadly over... but this is also only the start of the wonderful OG which is MT12. The real test of whether we can maintain our relationships and bonds forged over the 4 days which is T'sparanza 2008 will begin now, and we can only see whether our OG is really the close-knitted family I think it is in the weeks, or even months to come.
Don't really know what to say to each and every one of you in my OG, because as you know it's not really easy for guys to just express our emotions vocally or on a piece of paper. I just wanted to let EVERYONE of you know that I appreciate your presence in MT12, and that each and every one of you is someone special to me. Even if I did not talk to you much in the Orientation period, I am sure that will not be the end of the blossoming of our friendship, and we will continue to become even greater friends as the days progress.
I still remember I started out thinking that my OG looked pathetic, especially when I looked at our flag
and the girls but as time went by, I learnt to appreciate everyone in the OG for who they are, and learnt to enjoy the process of bonding together as a group. To me, my OG is not simply a group of people who knew each other for a few days, but you are
family to me, and I wanted you people to know that, even if it sounds mushy :)
As one of my friends from another school said: "You seem to know the people in your OG very well, but when you look back at the time spent, it's only been a few days." This is really true, and I hope that these friendships will continue and last for not just the few days, but extend to weeks, months and in the years to come.
Maybe we will drift apart...
But promise you my friend, left you a space in my heart...
