Vitamin M(oney)

When we look at today's busy corporate world and look at ourselves, we think that we are not that far off as them: facing mountainous piles of homework, facing responsibilities in group projects, facing the stress from our various CCAs...
It is easy to think that we are suffering like no other when we are comparing ourselves with people who face much less stress, like say for example primary school pupils. However, when we think about it that way, we must also reflect and understand that there are people out there facing stress which we cannot even think of comparing ourselves to, and cannot dream of even in our wildest imaginations. So the next time before we open our mouths to complain about the absurdness of the workload, think about how other people get by facing much more intimidating piles of work everyday, and then think about closing that mouth. However, it is a fact that we are after all still only secondary school students, and that we should still be given more leeway rather than fully blasted in the face by the difficulties that even adults have trouble coping with.
However, the focal point today is the problem about the attitude of people nowadays. In a society and corporate industry driven by stress and pressure, thousands of worker ants do their part in their office cubicles day in and day out just earn a fair share of bread to feed their families. Now in the article we see that money is being given such a high priority, even
higher than the health problems that she was facing. While holding on to a job is one thing, holding on insistently while in the knowledge of niggling health problems is another. As people wisely mentioned, health is more important than anything. Without your health, money is nothing. Yet why is it that nowadays people are taking money to be more important than their own lives? Is it the highly competitive job sector? The need for the money to sustain their living expenses? The greed for money for material luxuries? I feel that it is because of the mentality that our body can take the stress and pressure, and will not self-destruct so quickly - therefore we can work more and earn more money. But humans are humans. We are weak. We are not superheroes who can work tirelessly to save the civilians from the neverending stream of villains. We have our limits. And our limit can only be this much. When we seek to push
these limits in the conquest for more of the corrosive Vitamin M, the risk we face is enormous and definitely not worth it.
So when faced with a job which causes us too much stress in the future,
maybe it is time to reconsider our job options and look for something less stressful, so that in the long run it is better for ourselves both physically and mentally.
This is the first editorial I wrote - regarding my afterthoughts about this incident. If faced by the same situation, what should we do? This simply reflects my personal opinions and is definitely not meant to be imposed on others as everyone has a right to their own personal opinion. I found this article as I was randomly going around the internet, and the stark truth within this article struck me to write this because reality is cruel and we will have to face it someday. Just some random thoughts today...
