Special Olympics Flag Day

Sunday, May 6, 2007

Damn tired. After one whole day (practically 7 am - 9 pm) I was practically drained of all my energy. And here we are talking about a boy who sleeps at 2 am and wakes up at 6 am every single day. That speaks volumes of how tiring it was to organize, do two shifts of selling flags, and counting coins and calculating.
I came back with the intention go blog about this immediately, but my parents went "STRAIGHTAWAY GO SLEEP HOR!" Then I looked at my lovely, snuggly pillow and my soft, comforting bed and just could not resist the temptation to sleep.

Anyway, we faced a fair share of people with attitude problems, people who refused to split up and loved to be gay, and the lovely hardworking people :)
I shall talk about the nice people only. MR. DOMINIC CHUA OMG. I cannot believe he can be so nice. Only RI staff member who bothered to help with flag day (with a full tin no less), and treating us to chicken rice and drinks for our hard work. And apparently he was good at asking for flags because of his politeness and way of asking etc.
Then theres this person I was selling flags to. Some music teacher. I went to introduce Special Olympics to her and she donated $1. Then here comes the part. I said: "Thank you very much." Then she said: "Thank you! Have a nice day!" Then I was stunned down there thinking: "Isn't that my line? OMG super nice person." Even though such an act does not seem much to you, but for me its all about the small details that can tell me about this person's character etc.

Then we also met Zhihe's sister. David, Chee Yang and I were talking about how much she didn't look like him and that they were totally different. Then we realised that our thinking was affected by skin colour LOL. Then I kept forgetting her name too. Hui... what? Kept thinking it was Huirong but still sounded weird to me, until Chee Yang reminded me that it was Huirou, then I went "Ahhh yes I thought so." Had to keep repeating the name in my head to remember it bleah. This is what I cannot believe - she's only Sec 1 yet she is nearly the same height as me! AAAHHHHH I need to grow taller!

Another matter is KSing (kill-stealing). Me and Chee Yang used this term for stealing another person's target and getting their own flags sold instead. Chee Yang was freaking king at it - he kept moving forward to get the flags which were intended for me (which you could see when they put their hands into their bags for their wallets/purses), leaving me with close to nothing :(
Then Huirou (I remember now) kept saying that me and Zhihe keep stealing hers too, so thats KSing for you. Ruthless, yet you are unable to do anything about it lol.

Counting coins count until our hands smelly. When we finish I thought I could have a sleep on the table - until I realised that the table also smelled like the coins so cannot sleep. Sian.
Then got some small children there who insisted on playing arm-wrestling. This six-year old boy I tell you will be a future muscleman. Six years old and he has enough strength to make me feel the tension. Then I play with this older guy (I don't know his age) and hold him for quite a long time to ensure he had the exercise, then released my hand's strength. Although I knew he was beatable, but this guy was not bad so must give him encouragement for his efforts. He was seriously grimacing and pushing very hard, so I couldn't possibly just crush his hopes right? I'm not so bad la lol.

Also, I must really thank everyone for working hard to make our flag day a success, especially those who really put in their hard work and effort in selling the flags. Thank you all very much.
