Death of my legs

Friday, May 11, 2007

I am here today to announce something: the death of my legs.

Firstly today, there was 2.4 km run in the drizzle. I thought that it would be crazy to run in the rain because of the humidity and the soaking of your shirt, but Zhihe told me that he had experience and to trust him that running in the rain was good.

DAMN it was good. Because our lovely school happily decided to abolish the track, we had to run on the artificial field, and 7 laps + 20m. So other than the usual bumps, the rubbery stuff going into your shoes and stuff like that, some parts of the field were drenched and we were basically running into puddles, creating the ultimate fear of every girl/woman/teacher - wet socks.

Now we all know wet socks stink like hell. Heck, even I run away from Zhihe's wet socks or revolt at the stench of my own. But when we have approximately 28 people with wet socks in the class all drying their socks, that is something never experienced before.

But I digress. Basically I did not feel tired until the 6th lap, but still managed to keep up directly behind Yizhen (China scholar). Then came the fun part. Three quarter way through the 7th lap, I started to chiong and eventually beat Yizhen by 8 seconds. But even still my timing sucks. Don't laugh at it all you sub-10 or sub-11ers, but I got 12:13. But even so that is still my personal best. I realised each time I am improving by 10 seconds. YAY! So I think its a matter of time before I go sub-12 and into the league of normal runners -.-

Hockey Interhouse was next up in killing my legs. Basically after the 2.4km run, my legs still felt kind of energetic, so this was the main reason why my legs died.

But I am happy to announce that Moor House got 3rd, behind Morrison and Bayley. Sounds like its not a great achievement, but you cannot complain when you are up against all-star teams like those. So basically:

Buckley 0:0 Moor
Morrison 2:0 Moor
Bayley 2:2 Moor
Hullett 0:8 Moor

I kind of pity the Hullett guys. They were the whipping boys of this competition. When people discussed about challenging Hullett, it was not about winning or losing, but rather about the number of goals they can plunder through their defences. But well I can't say much because my team scored the most against them.

Hmmm let's see... what events are lined up for tomorrow? Ah yes ORA Walk-a-jogathon. What a great way to send off my legs... to Hell. Well me and my friends will probably just walk and look at the scenery... if you catch my drift.
